Lenin Nyakinya

I am a versatile competent science oriented agricultural professional with a passion for systems-based decision-making, emphasizing and promoting the use of modern technology at the farm level to enable and empower farmers to advance their business. I have more than seven (7) years’ experience managing agricultural and NRM projects at different levels, with vast experience and exposure in implementing, monitoring and evaluating diverse programs. I am considered an expert in Agricultural systems development. I have been recognized by  Kenya’s Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives; South Africa’s Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development;  GIZ South Africa; GenderCC South Africa; GIZ Kenya; UNEP Kenya among others as a professional in matters to do with Agronomy, Programs Management and Agricultural Digital Technology . I am also a passionate IT Specialist with key interests in Artificial Intelligence and Precision Agriculture. I have experience working on several projects funded by USAID, RTI, DANIDA, World Bank EU, SNV, KCIC, CEWAS among others.

I recently engaged with ASALPRO Research Group and Consultancy Limited as the Field Coordinator for Kenya where I currently support on field coordination,  monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, client stakeholder engagement and coordination with county teams, and overall supervision of daily field activities in 10 counties for PFC Coffee Project in conjunction with Solidaridad. 

Between Stawi Foods Limited January 2021 and October 2022 I was tasked with the following responsibilities; Program management, Strategic Team management, Monitoring and evaluation and reporting for USAID Innovation and Digitization Program in coordination with Feed the future in Kitui, Makueni and Machakos Counties and SNV Climate Climate Resilient Agribusiness for Tomorrow (CRAFT) Project in Kitui County

At  iFarmkonnect Limited I was also tasked with  Program management, Strategic Team management, Monitoring and Evaluation and periodic reporting between July 2018 and December 2020 for USAID Komesha Fruitfly Project in Makueni County, Kenya Climate Innovation Center(KCIC) Agribiz Program in Kisii, Machakos, Kajiado, Homabay and Narok counties, Young Water Solutions-CEWAS Pilot programme on smart water harvesting technologies in Kitui and Machakos Counties. 

Between June 2014 and June 2018, I was engaged with KEPHIS Mombasa Regional Office in Training and Compliance activities in learning and carrying out activities in National Performance trial units for various seed and hybrid seed certifications, Managing Demo sites in various locations ,Overseeing farm trainings, demonstrating  on adoption of certified seeds, appropriate fertilizers and promoting soil and water testing, Regular monitoring and provided guidance on how to check soil moisture levels, plant nutrition among others.
