ICT Support and Networking Internship

ICT Department (User Support Services and Maintenance Section)

Provided technical support to university faculty, staff and students for various ICT (Information and Communication Technology) issues. This includes troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and other technology-related problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hardware and Software Maintenance: Installed, configured, and maintained hardware components such as computers, printers, scanners, projectors, and other peripherals. Additionally, I ensured that software applications are up-to-date, and licenses are appropriately managed.
  • Help Desk Management: Acted as the first point of contact for ICT-related inquiries in person, via phone, and through ticketing systems. Responded to help desk requests promptly, and escalated complex issues to appropriate teams and personnel if needed.
  • Network Support: Assisted with network connectivity issues, both wired and wireless. Helped on troubleshooting network problems, such as slow connections or connectivity drops, and worked with the network team to resolve more complex network-related issues. 
  • User account Management: Created, managed, and deactivated user accounts for faculty, staff, and students in various university systems, ensuring appropriate access levels and security protocols are in place.
  • Collaboration with IT Team: Worked closely with other members of the university's IT team to coordinate and execute larger IT projects and initiatives.

Records Management Department 

Efficiently and accurately scanned and managed organization’s staff records, ensuring that all information was properly documented, organized and stored.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record Maintenance: Created, organized, updated and maintained records in physical and electronic formats. Ensured all records are appropriately labelled, indexed and filed according to established protocols.
  • Data Entry and Validation: Entered data into record systems accurately and verified the completeness and accuracy of the information as per the organization’s policies and legal requirements. 
  • Security and Confidentiality: Maintained strict confidentiality and security of records, especially sensitive or confidential information, to prevent unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
  • Training and Guidance: Educated incoming interns and attachment students on records management policies and procedures. Provided training to them on how to handle and manage records effectively.
  • Collaboration: Worked with different departments to understand their record-keeping needs and ensured seamless integration of records management practices across the organization.
