I have worked in the eLearning education subsector for eight years at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). Listed below are some of the roles I played.

Curriculum Development:

  • Collaborating with faculty to design and develop online courses and programs that align with the university's academic standards and objectives

Instructional Content Design:

  • Creating engaging and interactive learning materials, such as multimedia presentations, videos, assessments, and other digital content, to enhance the online learning experience

Technology Integration:

  • Evaluating and incorporating educational technologies and learning management systems (LMS) to facilitate the delivery of online courses, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience for both students and instructors.

Needs analysis and review of courses:

  • Conducting needs assessments to identify gaps in the existing curriculum and working with academic departments to determine the requirements for compelling online learning experiences.

Quality assurance activities:

  • Ensuring the quality and consistency of eLearning materials by conducting reviews, usability testing, and continually incorporating feedback from students and faculty to improve course content.

Professional Development Facilitation:

  • Providing training and support for faculty on effective online teaching strategies, instructional technologies, and best practices in eLearning

Accessibility Advocate:

  • Ensuring that eLearning materials and platforms comply with accessibility standards to make content usable for all students, including those with disabilities.

Project Management:

  • Managing timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure the timely development and deployment of online courses and collaborating with various stakeholders to meet project goals

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyzing student performance data and feedback to make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement, identifying areas of success and opportunities for enhancement.

Liaison with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs):

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts, faculty, and other stakeholders to gather content expertise and ensure the accurate representation of academic content in the online environment
