In order to fully understand depression, it is important to trace back to Sigmund Freud's Psychodynamic theory. According to this theory,  depression is as a result of of conflict between the conscious and the unconscious parts of the mind producing a phenomenon commonly known as repression. Depression can be fully eradicated from the depressed individual by making the unconscious conscious. This can be fully achieved by attending therapy sessions.
