Carol Chronicles: My Journey in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Impact

Life is a journey of learning, building, and giving back. My name is Carol Nyambura Mwonjoria, and I wear many hats—finance enthusiast, entrepreneur, mentor, and change-maker. Every step I take is driven by the vision to break generational poverty, uplift my community, and build a fulfilling, impactful life. This blog aims to share my journey—what I do, what I’ve learned, and how I strive to make a difference.

The Finance Enthusiast

Numbers tell stories, and I love decoding them. Studying International Business Administration with a concentration in Finance has sharpened my analytical thinking and passion for investment strategies. Whether it’s analyzing markets, evaluating businesses, or making data-driven financial decisions, I thrive in the world of finance.

My journey has led me to practical experiences, from volunteering in the Mastercard   Foundation Finance Office to interning at St. Vincent De Paul Community Development Organisation in Kibera. These experiences have reinforced my belief that financial literacy is key to personal and economic growth.

The Entrepreneur: Building Leaflicious

Beyond finance, I have an entrepreneurial spirit. Recognizing a gap in the Kenyan market for healthy, convenient, and affordable meal prep solutions, I aim to found Leaflicious—a platform designed to deliver pre-portioned ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes. Inspired by platforms like Uber Eats and Glovo but with a unique health-focused twist, my goal is to make nutritious eating accessible to busy individuals and families.

Starting a business is no easy feat. From conducting market research to refining the business model, every challenge teaches me something new. I embrace the process, knowing that every step, big or small, brings me closer to creating a thriving, impactful business.

The Mentor & Community Builder

Coming from a humble background, I understand the power of opportunity. That’s why I’m passionate about giving back and mentoring others. Through volunteering at children’s homes near my campus and working on a project to establish an affordable nursery school in Turima, I strive to create opportunities for those in need.

Education and empowerment are at the heart of what I do. Whether it’s helping young girls find a path to education or assisting small business owners in financial planning, I believe that when we lift others, we rise together.

What’s Next?

The journey doesn’t stop here. My short-term goal is to complete my final year strong, gain more hands-on experience through internships, and refine my business strategies for Leaflicious. I also plan to launch a YouTube channel focused on finance, business, and lifestyle to educate and inspire others.

In the long term, I envision myself becoming a leader in finance, earning certifications like CFA or CPA, and eventually transitioning into full-time entrepreneurship. My dream is to build sustainable businesses, empower communities, and mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs and professionals.
