Job summary

The Aga Khan University (AKU) is building an AI-enabled product to address the challenges of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The job holder will be a strategic and execution-focused Senior Product Manager expected to lead the development and delivery of Afya Gemma.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the strategic vision for Afya Gemma, prioritizing impactful healthcare use cases in LMICs.
• Provide day-to-day supervision, mentoring, and performance feedback to a multidisciplinary team of data engineers, data scientists, UX developers, clinicians, product marketers etc.
• Lead sprint planning, backlog management, and coordination across AI, engineering, design, clinical, and research teams.
• Conduct user interviews and field testing with healthcare workers, clinicians, field staff.
• Define model capabilities, safety thresholds, and data requirements specific to Afya Gemma.
• Develop launch strategies, training materials, and user onboarding journeys tailored to diverse personas and different geographies.
• Provide regular updates to funders, ensuring milestones, reporting, and deliverables are met.
• Define and track KPIs (e.g., health worker efficiency, decision confidence, data coverage) to assess real-world impact.
• Ensure responsible AI practices in the design and deployment of Afya Gemma, aligned with global health and data ethics standards.
• Develop and oversee product budgets; allocate resources efficiently across product functions and phases.
• Identify product, operational, or delivery risks early. Develop mitigation plans and communicate contingencies to leadership.
