Senior Accountant - Nairobi, Nairobi County

Job summary

The Senior Accountant will provide immediate, hands-on financial management support to stabilize the finance department.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Process and load payments for suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee accounts reconciliations, collections, and receivables management.
• Address existing financial and data entry backlogs and update accounting records.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide required documentation.
• Ensure statutory and tax compliance (PAYE, VAT, Withholding, NHIF, NSSF, etc.).
• Prepare and maintain financial reports, ledgers, and supporting schedules.
• Support management in implementing financial controls and best practices.
• Uphold confidentiality and integrity in managing large volumes of client funds.

Qualifications and Experience

• CPA (K) qualification (Certified Public Accountant – Kenya).
• Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a reputable audit or accounting firm.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, tax laws, and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
• Proven ability to handle high-value financial transactions with honesty and precision.
