Research Assistant (Baseline study).                                                    Sept 2023 To Dec 2023 

Kemri -Wellcome Trust 

As Research Assistant my responsibilities and achievements were: 

  • Data collection: Conduct interviews, surveys, and assessments with study participants according to the provided protocols.
  • Participant Recruitment: Identify and recruit eligible study participants in accordance with the study criteria. Explain the purpose and objectives of the study to participants and address any questions or concerns.
  • Data Recording: Record responses and observations accurately on designated electronic devices e.g Redcap. Organize and maintain all collected data in an organized and secure manner.
  • Quality Control: Conduct periodic data quality checks to identify and resolve inconsistencies or errors. Report any issues or challenges faced during data collection promptly to the supervisor.
  • Ethical Conduct: Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain participant confidentiality and privacy. Obtain informed consent from participants prior to data collection.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on data collection progress to the study supervisor (KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme). Submit completed electronic records in a timely fashion.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the study team and participate in team meetings and debriefings. Share insights and observations that could improve the data

As Health Records and information officer, I have supported in the following.

  • Data collection, organization, analysis, interpretation and dissemination for decision making.
  • Maintain proper documentation by ensuring daily  HMIS and registers update 
  • Daily generating of defaulters on daily basis and doing follow-up and reporting 
  • Data validation on both Kenya EMR and Excel Register 
  • Follow-up on CD4 result , update patients visits, regimen on a daily basis 
  • Organizing CMS for quality performance check and data security, integrity and availability.

Rachuonyo Sub County Hospital / Kasipul Sub County 

As a volunteer HRIO I have supported- MOH and PEPFAR/CDC implementing partners (EGPAF, LVCT) in the HIV/AIDS program activities. My responsibilities and achievement have been: 

  • I have been instrumental in supporting other facilities in Kasipul Sub- County as a roving HRIO supporting in HMIS mentorship, reports preparation and DQA. 
  •  Ensuring availability of reporting tools, registers, patients cards 
  •  Conduct data entry trainings. 
  • Innovating data presentation techniques to help in understanding and time utilization
  •   Data review for validation before submission and after to certain the accuracy during entry.
  •   Updating Covid-19 vaccination status in the MOH Chanjo System and KenyaEMR system. 
  • Ensuring timely registration and complete documentation of patient details in both the Pre ART, ART, PrEP, PMTCT, HEI, and EMR systems. 
  • Preparation, compilation, analysis, and validation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly facility reports such as MOH 731 and MOH 711, as well as partner reports. 
  • Supporting health care workers in preparing and presenting data reviews and conducting DQA, MDT, Mortality Audits, CMEs, and CQI periodically. 
  • Monthly data entry of MOH and program reports into the KHIS and EKMS. 
  • Helping to timely update all dashboards for facility progress reviews (facility talking walls). 
  • Implementing data security and patient-level data confidentiality mechanisms adhering to the SOP and required guidelines. 
  • Report generation either from KHIS, EMR and Ushauri when needed for decision making
