Experience

Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Research Officer and Behavioral Change Smoking Cessation Interventions for People Living with HIV Providing support to the planning, implementation, management, and monitoring of HIV Smokers and Alcohol Users within the CCC health facilities in Nairobi County. Actively participated in the successful recruitment of 320 participants by conducting mobilization and sensitization, taking informed consent and enrolling participants according to the eligibility criteria. Continuously developing high retention strategies to ensure study participants complete study follow ups within the stipulated window periods sets, documenting lessons learnt and up to date reporting to achieve a retention rate at Week 12 and Week 36. Leading role in conducting behavioral intervention through Positively smoke free counselling sessions, documenting success stories, preparation of progress reports and help the team to achieve desired results. Completed data entry from paper CRF to electronic data CRFs such as Redcap and Scheduler program by achieving data completion and quality rate according to the protocol. Washington State University- Global Health Kenya Verbal Autopsy Officer - Verbal Autopsy Validation Study December, 2021- June, 2022 Supported the effective implementation of the study through planning, organizing, and monitoring of implementation plans to developed deep understanding of the study protocol, SOPs and operational manuals. Mobilized, Sensitize, support and worked closely with key informants, obtained and reviewed informed consents Provided initial and where possible ongoing counselling support and psychological support including grief counselling. Kept an up-to-date log book of all deaths that have been reported to me and all VA interviews that have been conducted. Conducted focus group discussions and key informant interviews while ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Transcribed and Translated qualitative data promptly. Assisted in Mobilization and recruitment of participants to enroll in the study according to protocol. Conducted Consenting households for the mapping process and ensured that all study questionnaires are completely filled in the ODK app kit during the interview. Supervised and lead community interviewers by promoting safe and secure environment towards achieving the study objectives. Prepared Dried Blood Spot and conducted Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests and Completed study forms accurately. Ensured proper labelling, storage and tracking of samples and coordinated transportation to the laboratory. GreenZONE Agencies Limited, CBO - Kisumu Project Assistant Intern June, 2019- December, 2019 Assisted in administrative tasks as required such as preparation of reports, data entry, organized meetings, received and disseminated information and other reception duties. Provided technical support to build the capacity of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs ) on the OVC retention, nutritional basics, positive parenting skills to parents and life skills to OVC adolescents. Conducted in - depth interviews in households and led focus groups discussion on different programs such as nutritional programs , Income Generating activities, tracking viral loads. Led and ensured proper distribution of one time relief services to children in need and their families such as the dignitary packs, cash kitties and other scholastic materials. Collaborated and worked closely with health departments and social organizations to foster positive knowledge ,attitudes and practices on HIV prevention and treatment services amongst all age cohorts. Prepared periodic activity reports- weekly, monthly, and quarterly in line with the OVC program work plan. Kenya Medical Research Institute Program Intern May, 2017- September, 2017 Key responsibilities and achievements under the cohort study to Investigate the burden influenza Virus on pregnant women and Infants in Western Kenya; Supported the project team in conducting monitoring and evaluation of project activities and tracking of key project tasks. Mobilized and Sensitized women of child bearing age to the study procedures, consented and enrolled the participants into the study. Follow up and Retention of study participants through phone calls, home visits or through community health volunteers and making enquiry of any signs of influenza. Supported the project team in conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews for the maternal vaccine study (MVAC). Ensured confidentiality of information, ethical guidelines is maintained and eliminate any apprehensions and fears.
