I have Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from university of Embu. I have experience in data collection with organizations such as USAID, APHRC, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, Strathmore University on AGPO tenders, Agricultural Sector Development Support Program, Kenya Agriculturalal Livestock Research Organization, and RTI international.
My previous experience relevant to this role of entails:
- Locating sampled population.
- Data collection and entry into various online data collection application such as Survey CTO and ODK tools.
- Locating households sampled and planning on logistics.
- Report writing on survey progress.
- Planning field logistics and organizing field enumerators for daily activities.
- Questionnaire administration and interpretation respondents in rural set in local and other languages. Data cleaning to ensure its of good quality and in line with given guidelines.
Experience
Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS)-2021 to 2022- Involved in checking the quality of agricultural produce for export and import produce. Undertaking inspections, testing, certification, quarantine control, variety testingand descriptors of seeds and plant materials.
M green January 2020 to December 2020-2021 involved in the gap check in the agronomic practices associated with French beans, Fruits and Macadamia Nuts.
Major achievement: Abilityto satisfy farmers needs and resolving issues related to agronomic practices and coordinating digitalfarming programs through scientific research.
Embu CountyGovernment January to December 2019 –Actively involved in agricultural datacollection and analysisin Embu county government during field trips in the entire county. Mobile application used: Jotform and smart sheet applications.
Major achievement: The facilitation of data analysis to determine the key problem facing the agricultural challenges in agriculture sector in the county.
Gained experience in the macadamia nut production and fruit productionoperations.
InternationalCentre for InsectPhysiology and Ecology– Intern – May 7th –November 2018
Conducted experiments on citrus psyllid including life history studies, data collection and analysis, psylliddissections for molecularwork and measurement of morphological parameters and maintaining a vibrant colony of citrus psyllids.
Major Achievement: Generating innovative ideas and strategies to improve processes in agricultural field.
Real IPM Thika- May-June 2017
Actively involvedin conducting trialsusing biological controlson pests, collecting data of set trials within and without Real IPM, supervising casual laborers, checking on quality of products before exportsand using biodegradable substances for agricultural produce.
