I am a Graduate Engineer (EBK), Professional Engineering Technologist (KETRB) and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE), Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) as well as the Institution of Engineering Technologists and Technicians (IET) with over 10 years’ progressive experience in power/telecommunication systems design, installation, maintenance and consultancy. I have attended power system design training courses in Kenya Power, that is, Power system design software (Design and Construction System (DCS)), Facility Database (FDB), Voltage Drop and Motor Starting Calculations and NEPLAN, PSS/E (Power System Simulation Software’s).
Adept and familiar with Kenya Power network; from generation, transmission, distribution, and finally utilization of electrical energy. Also familiar with low voltages (250V,433V), medium voltages (11kV,33kV), high voltages (66kV, 132kV, 220kV), extra high voltage (400kV, 500V DC).
Deep understanding of both pole-mounted transformer substations (5kVA - 315kVA) as well as ground mounted transformer substations (315kVA - 90MVA etc.) design. Expert knowledge in the functioning of low medium and high voltage cables including ((PVC/SWA/PVC), (XLPE/SWA/PVC) and single core concentric)); as well as a wide variety of conductors,
Adept knowledge of renewable energy integration/interconnection studies, power system protection and control, power flow studies, short circuit fault analysis study, power system analysis and technical report writing, power system dynamic stability study and operational constraints, transmission line and substations start-up and Shut-down, wind firm start-up and shut-down, power system normal operation, power system operational limits, power system operational risks and contingencies, operation during degraded modes of wind firm, power systems design calculations, power generation and transmission line switching sequence and (NEPLAN, PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT power system simulation software’s)

I have over 10 years of experience in Power System Design:
 Work as the overall lead in business development and implementation of power projects in partnership with Kenya Power and other large and small sized organization;
 Preparing bids for pre-qualifications for the provision of electrical power systems projects;
 Providing leadership and strategic orientation to a team comprising of five (5) Electrical Engineers across a cluster of three (4) regions mapped out by Kenya Power-Nairobi West, Nairobi South, Nairobi North and North Eastern;
 Leading complex projects from the designing, installation to commissioning of power systems for premium/large power customers at 33kV & 11 kV (MV distribution voltages);
 Undertaking consultancy work for power systems including feasibility studies, power systems design, metering high power systems;
 Carrying out solar system design, installation and commissioning work;
 Carrying out site visits to customer location in order to undertake needs assessment surveys.
 Conducting feasibility studies for renewable energy grid integration/connection in compliance with Kenya Electricity Grid Code 2008.
 Primary and Secondary Distribution Substation Design
 Maintenance of medium voltage switchgear and distribution transformers
