Communications Specialist, The Karen Hospital Feb 2018 – present | Nairobi
Developed and implemented feedback analysis for both external and internal clients to improve efficiency.

 Feedback analysis is continuously done on a monthly basis tracking all the areas of improvement. This has been made possible as well through the Ajua feedback platform.
 

Developed a successful communication strategy around the coronavirus pandemic. This included creating awareness on the pandemic, effective staff communication and reassuring all our stakeholders on the safety measures the hospital took to protect, patients, staff, visitors and fellow countrymen at large.
 

Accomplished internal and external branding both at HQ and all the branches. This included having billboards in place, internal directional and a list of services branding. Ensured continuous communication with the unit heads and update the necessary change as they arise.
 

Project lead that saw a well-created, designed and great website that is user-friendly, interactive and responsive. To date over 6500 bookings and inquiries have been made.
 

Created a proactive communication strategy aimed at increasing staff engagement this was aimed at instilling the culture of Patient Centrism, Ownership and Accountability. (POA).
 

Successfully handled communication on all staff forums. This has been an avenue for staff engagement and ensuring staff are up to date on all hospital matters.
 

Executed a successful social media strategy whose objective was to position the hospital as a credible source of information and communication channel for stakeholder engagement. Follower-ship on Facebook doubled from 17,000 likes to 39,000 with a reach of over 2 million over a period of 2 years. Additionally, the YouTube Channel is vibrant and has garnered a collective viewership of over 430,000 views in 6 months in an infomercial series dubbed Tujadiliane:
 

Writing and editing in-house magazines The Karen Hospital News at Sunrise, featuring services offered, staff highlights and news features. Been able to design and produce over 30 newsletters. This keeps staff and other stakeholders abreast with the on-goings in the hospital.
 

Liaising with, and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email this includes organizing interviews for CEO, Chairman and any other senior management officer.

Writing and distributing press releases to targeted media houses for all the events and media relations sessions held.
 

Led a team of communication officers and graphic designers to produce numerous marketing materials for the various services at HQ and branch level which included brochures, flyers, promotional videos, photographs, bulk SMS and emails thereby leading to increased footfall and revenue generated by12% over a period of 2 years.
 

Organizing all hospital events including a successful installation of the 2nd CEO of the hospital, branch get-together, yearly heart run event and teachers workshop etc.
 

Organized numerous national and international marketing and signature events including medical camps, gala dinners, open days, launches and fundraising runs. The most recent was a cardiac camp in Kitale where we saw over 400 patients and a 3-day medical camp in Abuja Nigeria with a turn-up of over 700 patients.
 

Created a pro-active CSR strategy during Covid 19 pandemic whereby we visited over 10 police stations within Nairobi and donated masks, sanitizers and masks. We reached out to communities within the Karen neighbourhood as well and supported them with household items.
