Racheal is a teacher by profession and educator in emergencies with over 7 years of experience in teaching and training normal and emergency education. I have Master degree in Education in Emergencies and Bachelors degree in Education from University of Nairobi.

I started working with Teach For Kenya in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums. During this period I found out that the illitracy levels of learners was very low, I started a literacy club that helped learners read and write and now 80% of learners now in grade 3 know how to read and write. In this project I worked with organizations such as world readers, wakelet and e-kitabu app where we incorporated digital reading.
In the same school, majority of girls were loosing their voices due to gender based violence, and i initiated capacity building training for teachers, mentorship training on reporting mechanism for girls to help end the vice.
I also trained teachers with profuturo on classroom management, digital skills and emotional intelligence. During 2022, I found out that learners were using toilets that were not in good condition and I constructed modern toilets for them.

I also Promoted collaborative actions and knowledge-sharing across key actors working on gender, education and emergencies and promote the cordination of research initiatives across key actors and Identied gaps and priorities for research on gender and Education in Emergencies to influence change.
