Peter Thua

I have over two years of professional software development experience, primarily gained at Cloudoon (Truehost Kenya) from April 2024 to August 2025, where I worked on enterprise-level solutions across multiple platforms.

As the sole developer and maintainer of the Jisort microfinance platform built on Apache Fineract, I extended the core banking system with custom features including loan products, account configurations, and client management workflows. I integrated critical third-party services such as M-Pesa Daraja API for mobile money transactions, Equity Jenga API for banking operations, and Africa's Talking for SMS notifications. I also developed financial reports in Pentaho and created a Python SDK (jenga-api-client) published to PyPI.

On the Olitt Site Builder Platform, I developed key features including Mautic marketing integrations, Google Analytics integration, and custom templates. I took over the React Native mobile app development, completed it, and successfully published it to the Google Play Store.

Prior to Cloudoon, I worked as an AI Trainer at SamaSource Kenya (August–December 2023), contributing to machine learning improvements through data annotation and quality assurance.

As a Freelance Web Developer for Honda Motorcycles Kenya Limited (February–May 2023), I designed and developed a bespoke logistics management system that streamlined operations, enabling real-time inventory tracking and order processing.

Currently, I actively contribute to Apache Fineract open source project with multiple merged pull requests addressing API improvements, bug fixes, and system enhancements, collaborating with international contributors on enterprise-level workflows.

I have a bachelors degree in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology which has given me the tools necessary to be in this profession.
