Nelly Wandera

Am a multi-skilled social scientist with over 5 years of work experience in Research within the NGO world.I hold both professional and academic experience in project management, advanced research, and community development in the fields of mental health, HIV, Livelihoods, and Development Assistance. A result-oriented person experienced in providing administrative support to complete projects. I am knowledgeable in disseminating project information to project stakeholders, developing and maintaining project deliverables, and Proficiency in collecting both quantitative and qualitative data electronically and inputting it into databases. More so I have been involved in community mobilization and sensitization, field research, capacity building as well as planning and implementing community-based projects. I am looking for a position in a challenging environment that strives for the organization’s goal attainment and personal development.

Department: Research Department (OVC Program) - Mental Health Research Projects Implemented in Bungoma in Collaboration with Duke University and University of Washington (funded by the National Institute of Health):

Key Responsibilities:

• Identifying and Mapping research participants.
• Sensitization and creating partnerships with Ministries of Health and Education officials, and communities on BASIC program
• Recruiting participants for data collection adhering to strict eligibility requirements and offering incentives for participants based on the research study regulations and participant eligibility.
• Data collection/Administering surveys electronically (Quantitative and Qualitative methods) in rural and urban areas of Bungoma 
• Monitor and evaluate developments in research participants after a specific period.
• Translating and back-translating of study tools/surveys
• Perform data verification and entry procedures obtained from various research activities
• Offering Trauma Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program to OVCs
• Develop a standard of care and referral tools to be used while in the field.
• Assessing needs in a household and writing case studies to help in the intervention process
• Strict adherence to all policies, protocols, practices, and procedures as per the relevant manuals and compliance with all relevant external protocols and regulations with regard to Research Compliance. 
• Executing designated research projects in collaboration with DUKE University mainly on Mental Health research projects (Positive Outcomes For Orphans POFO, Trauma Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy TF-CBT, Building and Sustaining Intervention in Children BASIC, Teacher wellbeing TWB, Social and Sexual Network Analysis SNA, Flourishing Mental Health in caregivers taking care of orphans and abandoned children living in-home care/children homes FMH).
