About Mercy Chepngeno:

I am a Bachelor of Commerce, Finance option, graduate from Maasai Mara University.  I have previously worked with Lutheran world federation (LWF) Dadaab as a volunteer in their Finance department, Soipogh Getaway camp Dadaab, and the department of Finance and Economic Planning, County Government of Kericho. 

I seek a position as a finance intern in your esteemed organization as this will enable me put into practice my education and skills while contributing to the team. I believe that my education, skills and motivation to excel make me a suitable candidate for such a position. 

I am a fast learner, analytical, flexible and work with minimal supervision. I am always willing to learn new roles and capable of adapting to evolving situations with great efficiency and output.

December 2022 to 2023: Finance Volunteer Reso society Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Bookkeeping, general accounting, handling of petty cash, recording incomes and expenditures/disbursement.
  • Maintain and organize documents, scanning all financial documents and digital filling them.
  • Assist with reconciliation of all outstanding advances, payables and outstanding cheques and preparation of spreadsheets.
  • Facilitating procurement documents, processing and verifying the same for payment against receipts
  • Maintaining the receipts books and ensuring that all the authorized receipts are issued.
  • Audit facilitation: supporting the audit process by providing sampled documents and explanation(s) on time.
  • Assist finance assistant with cashbooks updates’
  • Support in reporting to the management team.
  • Managing the daily operations cash flow and ensuring enough cash is available for related expenses in accordance with company finance policy.
  • Establishing reconciliation of all outstanding advances, payables and outstanding cheques
  • Facilitating procurement documents, processing and verifying the same for payment against receipts.
  • Collection of field work for shelter and food distribution.
  • Audit facilitation: supporting the audit process by providing sampled documents and explanation(s) on time.
  • Support in reporting to the management team.

March 2019 – to February 2020: Intern (Part time) Finance/HR Offices, Lutheran World federation (LWF), Dadaab office

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data entry; Entering financial transactions (payment vouchers, receipts and journals) into system and generate draft reports such as cash books
  • Document handling;
    • Proper filling (hard copy filing and soft copy filing) of financial documents.
    • Managing Incentive staff files
    • Scanning and photocopying
  • Perform other duties assigned by the department.

June 2017 –August 2017: Industrial Attachment Kericho County Government

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Revenue collection from the markets, project analysis from various departments (DCIP) facilitate business registration for single business permits and assist in budget preparations.
