About lucy Namusonge:

I have seventeen years work experience of which seven are of teaching at the University and five of them being at management level where I coordinated integrated health services including HIV/AIDs care and treatment at a health center in Lesotho (Southern Africa). I have been involved in RMNCAH programming, planning, budget management, staff management, research, writing reports to donors, proposal development and facilitating capacity building. I have good experience in teaching, mentorship, management of health services and research. I have worked as a Project Assistant with AMREF and PRONTO international in the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) project. I took a leading role in the reorientation of Traditional Birth Attendants to birth companions and referral agents which led to improving RMNCAH indicators in Kakamega County especially in increasing skilled birth attendance and reduction in maternal and newborn mortalities and morbidities as well as implementation of the community health strategy. I have also participated in research on Post abortion care (PAC) in Bungoma County which was sponsored by Ipas. Worked with PATH in the APHIAplus Western Kenya Program, USAID funded as a Program Officer (RH/MNCH/FP) coordinating RMNCAH activities as well as clinical mentorship in Siaya and Kisumu Counties. I am currently a fulltime tutorial fellow at Kibabii University in the School of Nursing and a part time lecturer at MMUST. I coordinate examinations and ODeL in the school. I have an array of experience in community mobilization in matters of health and research.

In addition to my experience, I am a Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) of which I was the best research student and also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing Science obtained with a distinction from The University of South Africa (UNISA) in which I specialized in Health services management, Health sciences education and Community health. I have also done a certification course in Monitoring and Evaluation at Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). I also hold a Masters degree in Public Health (Reproductive Health option) from Kenyatta University. I also hold a PhD in Public Health obtained at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). I have 5 publications in peer reviewed journals.
