Leoncie Dushimirimana

I am Leoncie DUSHIMIRIMANA  completed Bachelor degree in Food Science and Technology from Egerton university Kenya. I worked as an attachment in Kenya Bureau of Standards Nairobi where I was attached in Food and Agriculture Laboratory. I  used to test different samples related to food products such as Jam ,Juices, beers, wines, Milk, meat and meat products and all baked products and other food related products. I was testing different parameters such as moisture contents, Acid Insoluble ash, protein content, concentration of sugar contents, level of alcohol contents, vitamin contents, PH contents, etc. I was also working on agriculture related product such as grading of cereals such as rice, Lentils for quality purposes, Testing moisture content, Acid insoluble ash in Coffee and Tea. 

Testing mineral supplement in Animal feeds and fertilizers. I have gained knowledge on how to do calculation right after testing so that you use that results for analysis for deciding if the product are of quality and safe to be consumed both by Human and Animals . 

I have also done another  attachment  at Kenya Industrial Research Development Institute(KIRDI) Nairobi where I gained a lot of knowledge and skills related to food production, hygiene maintenance in production plant, quality and safety observation and maintenance of produced products. Helping different clients in production of different products such as jams, Tomato paste, casual nuts, chili, yoghurt, cookies and cakes. Generally; I have learnt a lot, apart from Testing, analysis and production I have also gained ability to work with others, and being able to work under minimal supervision.

January 2020 internship at Njoro Canning Factory, Nakuru-Kenya.

In 2020 February I had training on video making and photography at Egerton university, which was arranged by the TAGDev program under MasterCard Foundation.

April 2022 to December 2022 worked on Effect of Avocado Dehydration on Nutritional Composition, Consumer Acceptability, and Shelf life.

2015 to 2017 – Certificate of participation in community service club, where we used to help people teaching them way of eating balanced diet especially families around our high school and also teaching and playing with children who was in Gashora camp near our high school.

Activities done

 Tutoring - I volunteered to teach English and Math primary candidate who was preparing for a national exam at Gashora Primary school in 2016. In Community service club

 Help farmers with new farming methods- After an internship at Rwanda Agriculture Board, I took the first step to help farmers in my community with a new method of managing soil like crop rotation and covering the soil with dry grasses to maintain the water in the soil.
