About Lazarus Wekesa:

Have experience in teaching/ trainings, ICT support, coordination (internal & external) of teams, organization and budgeting, in providing technical support in development and implementation of new products. Worked as a technical product owner and was able to offer technical support to staff in regards to sourcing for user requirements/ pain points, development of workable tools for data collection and feedback from both internal and external stakeholders. Planning and organizing teams, assigning them tasks and targets for rapid project development through sprints. Preparing project schedules, plans and execution of the same. Participating in performance reviews and provision of feedback to the necessary teams.

 

I have been involved in providing new product / features roadmap, driving process improvement agenda through design process (architectural and system flows), developing of test cases, test scripts and effort estimation in line with project scope to ensure quality. Engaging the relevant stakeholders and presenting to them every milestone in the project development phase to ensure correctness in the product development phase. Training system / product users especially on the new features, providing technical input in collection of routine data, analysis and generation of reports. 

 

Collaborated also in the integration of systems. System administration, project monitoring and evaluation including project planning and maintaining a backlog and prioritizing items based on client needs. Documentation of new systems, creation of success stories in the test environment to ensure product quality. 

Having worked in an agile environment through collaboration has enabled me to become a good team player. 

Experience

ICT Consultancy: CutEdge Solutions (August 2022 to Present)
Product owner: Tangazoletu ltd (July 2019 to July 2022)
As part of the scrum team, I ensured correct user requirements are collected from our clients, reviewed and broken down into smaller manageable tasks that can easily be understood by our developers. Development of business processes, together with the scrum team organized the tasks, prepared sprints then assigned these tasks to the developers. Designed system processes using process flows and wireframes, creating and managing backlogs by ensuring prioritization of items in line with the customer goals. Guiding developers by clearly defining the product backlog, direct involvement in the product development and provided constant feedback to client, ensuring quality in product delivery, client management. Performed UATs tests and other test preparation tasks, developing, documenting and maintaining functional and non-functional test cases and test scripts (manual and automated). Working with the project team to define and create overall tests/ test strategy/plan and estimate test effort in line with the project scope. Periodic preparation and sharing of test report including test acceptance reports. Prepare project technical proposals and at times financial proposals. Collaborating with other departments like the sales and marketing, operations, HR, finance and other stakeholders in new product introduction and pilots, training, and ensuring timely releases.
TUTOR: Diakonia institute, Dagoreti Campus (January, 2018 – Dec 2018) Duties: teaching, career coaching, coordinating students’ projects, managing student information, assisting students apply for scholarships and bursaries, analysing student performance and presenting student results to the exams office. Subjects include: Database systems, Management Information systems, ICT project management, Business Information Systems, Computer Applications, Operating systems, Web application and programming, Monitoring and Evaluation.
DEPUTY PRESIDING OFFICER: Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (2017) Duties: welcoming voters to a polling station, guiding and monitoring voter movements in and out of the polling room, put marks on both voter and voter assistant, offer help with the KIEMS kit functioning, act as a presiding officer as demand comes, e t c.
