Position: Environmental Officer
Responsibilities:
Ensuring Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Management Plans are being adhered to.
Undertaking daily, weekly and monthly EHS performance reporting.
Monitoring and enforcement of sound waste management practices and maintaining related documentations like waste tracking sheets in line with applicable statutory requirements.
Participating in monthly EHS management meetings and following up closure of agreed actions.
Enforcement of Hell’s Gate National Park Rules and KenGen-Kenya Wildlife Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Creating and enforcing safety guidelines and programs.
Continuous inspection of project sites to ensure a hazard-free environment.
Conducting accident/ incident investigation and near misses and reporting to project team lead within the stipulated time frame.
Verification of tools and Personal Protective Equipment to ensure quality.
Inducting and training new employees and visitors to the site.
Developing/reviewing and enforcement of safe work procedures for risky jobs.
Preparing emergency preparedness and response plans.
Planning and executing emergency drills and preparing related reports to aid in management decisions.
Conducting toolbox 
Serve as the link between contractor, KenGen and local communities.
Promoting safe job practices at workplaces.
