Joshua Okallo

I am a widely trained and experienced Investigator and trainer with 31 years’ law enforcement in policing, twelve (12) of which were in Criminal detection and narcotics investigations and five years at the DCI training School as a trainer of Investigators countering Organized Crime and teaching the Law of evidence. I am passionate about law enforcement especially drugs law. I retired early from the National Police Service, in 2018 at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police having being posted as Divisional Criminal Investigation officer.

Being of unquestionable character and integrity, I hold highly the virtue of honesty. I am resourceful, objective, dependable and self-driven retired police officer who is a good team player. I possess good communication and leadership skills, innovative and focused. I adapt easily to new environment and can work with no supervision.

I have had International exposure and training overseas on sensitive investigations and also worked with the US Drug Enforcement Administration in Nairobi Kenya on drugs investigations and Operations. 

Trained and worked for the National Police Service , Directorate of Criminal Investigations from May 1991 to June 2018 having risen through the ranks upon which I retired early in 2018 at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.

Between 1991 and April 2002 , I worked as a General duty police officer at Moi International Airport , Wilson Airport and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport performing general law enforcement duties.

In April 2002 , I joined the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as a narcotic drugs enforcement officer tasked with investigations and operations on drugs enforcement.

September 2002 to May 2010 , worked at Anti-Narcotics Unit officer at Malaba border with Uganda.

June 2010 to August 2013   worked at Anti-Narcotics office in Kasarani, Nairobi. I was an integral part of the team that formulated a Standard Operating Procedures handbook for DCI Anti-Narcotics Unit in 2012. 

As an investigator, I had several success stories of Court conviction for criminals and drug traffickers.

September 2013 to June 2018 worked as a trainer at the DCI Academy in Nairobi, training investigators and other law enforcement officers from the DCI, National Police Service and other government agencies.

June 2018 to September 2022 , worked as a Security Investigator for the US DEA in Nairobi , as well as liaison with the Government of Kenya officials in law enforcement, prosecutorial services as well as integral agencies. Part of the team that planned and executed several sensitive bilateral operations including three successful extraditions of fugitives to the US between 2020 and 2022. I also successfully assisted in vetting and preparing travel logistics for teams of DCI officers to attend training in the United States of America. I also maintained a property inventory of sensitive technical and other investigative support equipment used by the Sensitive Investigative Unit.
