John Waweru

I have served as a Military Officer with the Kenya Defence Forces for over 30 years, both in command and staff appointments at the Kenya Navy, Defence Headquarters and various military training institutions in Kenya and overseas. From March 2019 to December 2022 I served as the Director General (CEO) of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). The experiences gained during this entire period and the academic qualifications gained have honed my strategic leadership, management and organizational skills in the security sphere to the highest levels. Furthermore, I also steered the KWS to be the lead wildlife conservation and management organization in the Eastern African Region.

1. Military Service - over 36 years (retired as Brigadier General).

2. Wildlife Conservation - 4 years as Director General of Kenya Wildlife Service.
