I am a passionate biomedical scientist with experience from KEMRI in the center of viral research and ICEMR international centers of excellence in malarial research. I have also worked as a laboratory technician in colleges training students in molecular biology techniques. i am passionate about clinical research and trials with a certificate in introduction to clinical research. currently studying Good clinical practice in clinical research and designs.
I look to leverage my knowledge and understanding in a reputable organization where I can exploit my skills while being of service to that organization and to the world at large.
Experience
February 2022: Volunteer Research Assistant, International Centers of Excellence for Malarial Research.
Processed the blood samples from the field to check for signs of malarial infection. Prepared mosquito samples for analysis of the presence of plasmodium. Prepared laboratory reagents like phosphate buffered saline. Prepared and ran the gel electrophoresis of samples. Eg. Anopheles funestus. Conducted polymerase chain reaction on the chosen samples. Interpreted the results of both PCR and gel electrophoresis. Cleaned the working surfaces. Kept records on all processed samples.
July to September 2019- Research Assistant, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).
Centre of virus research. Successfully prepared and run gel electrophoresis and gave accurate result interpretation. Carefully conducted polymerase chain reaction using the thermocycler, also interpreted results from the RTpcr machine. Accomplished duties in cell culture and cell culture media preparation, reviving the cells from liquid nitrogen, performing cell subcultures and sterilization, microscopic examination of cell cultures and interpretation of results after sample inoculation, Prepared mosquito samples at the virus and hemorrhagic fever laboratory Conducted ELISA test on samples. Processed the mosquito isolates to determine presence of dengue and chikungunya. RNA extraction from the dengue and chikungunya parasites. Prepared and processed sewerage samples at the polio surveillance laboratories. Prepares sample isolates from feces in the polio laboratory, inoculated in the right cell line vessels and observed for the presence of polio virus. Prepared and labelled inoculation vessels at the cell culture unit.
