I am passionate about gender equality issues and addressing the historical and structural inequalities facing men and women in society. In addition to this I am interested in women empowerment, Gender policy Development and Elimination of gender based violence and sexual and reproductive health rights.
I am a creative individual who is always looking for ways to improve programs or services and think outside the box. Furthermore my communication skills , ability to work collaboratively, , technological awareness, commitment to continuous learning, leadership skills, and experience in empowering others and managing performance.I find energy and inspiration in combining my passion in community work to address current global issues.
In my previous roles, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to communicate effectively and listen to others, tailoring my language, tone, style, and format to match the audience. I have also shown a commitment to teamwork, placing the team agenda before my personal agenda and supporting and acting in accordance with final group decisions.
Experience
My most recent role was at the National Gender and Equality Commission, a government institution that promotes gender equality and freedom from all forms of discrimination in Kenya, especially for special interests groups.
While at the organization I was under the Division of Gender and Women and took part in the following
- Supported the division in organizing multi-stakeholder meetings in preparation for the 2022 General Election Preparedness. Including prevention, response, and management of violence against women held at the Sarova Hotel through conducting of:
a). Stakeholder Mapping
b). Preparing invitation list
c). Preparing invitation letters
d). Support in minute taking and pre and post-surveys of the meeting analyses.
- Conducted Trend analysis on youth Participation in the past general elections
- Attended an internal training of National Gender and Equality Commission Election Monitors held in Nakuru from 18th July to 22nd July 2022 where I learned about how the commission is involved in election monitoring and the various tools the monitors use to enter information that will be needed when compiling forth the final report.
- From 5th August to 12th August, I took part in monitoring the general Elections by attending campaign rallies in Nairobi county to doing a research analysis of the Special Interest groups who were able to be elected during the concluded general election.
- I participated in receiving and evaluating annual reports on progress made by public institutions and other sectors on compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements on the implementation of the principles of equality and freedom from discrimination.
