I undertook my internal attachment at school(industrial based learning) which involved practical and hands on utilization of the school laboratory equipment. Some of the instruments I used were; UV-VIS, AAS, FT-IR, GC and HPLC.

I am also privileged to have done my external attachment at Kenya Forestry Research Institute where I was attached at the Soil Science Lab. The specific activities include;

• Soil and plant sampling and receipt of the collected samples in the laboratory.
• Preparation of the samples for analysis; drying and grinding
• Physical analysis of samples; soil texture, bulk density and moisture content
• Chemical analysis; pH, Electroconductivity, Micro-elements and Macro-elements
• Data entry and analysis

Bachelor of Technology in Industrial and Applied Chemistry at the Technical University of Kenya where I gained the theory necessary for the industry which will definitely go hand in hand with the practical skills and being hands on in an active laboratory and industry.
