About Elizabeth Gichache:

A strategic and result-driven professional, project management professional, with experience working in Solar and Telecom Industries. Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Overseeing solar project implementation for Safaricom BTS sites.
  • Participating in the end-to-end solar engineering work that involves sites survey, designs, preparation of Front End Engineering Design reports, implementation works and post-site performance analysis, report writing and presentation to the customer.
  • Enforcing site installation quality control processes.
  • Undertaking the plant testing and configuration, monitoring its performance and reporting to clients call out.
  • Recommending management of the status of all ongoing projects.
  • Anticipating delays and initiating plans and alternative solutions.
  • Collaborating with all cross-functional team members/system owners to accomplish required tasks and providing project updates.

Consultancy - Site Manager

Glosec Systems Limited; September 2021 to May 2022 - 1Megawatt grid tie project

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing the project plans, health and safety requirements, projects execution processes, generating bill of quantities, and site design amendments.
  • Overall management of day-to-day site construction works including material audit, managing the team welfare, supervising installation works to make sure highest quality of work is delivered, play part in team training and installation works.
  • Preparing reports - daily reports on site progress, site commissioning and completion report and submitting reports to the client on various aspects of the contract.

Site Supervisor and Operations Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing the project plans projects execution processes and procedures.
  • Auditing the material used and tools availability and preplanning early to allow smooth execution of the project.
  • Coordinating and supervising the site's construction process ensuring all set standards have been met to achieve quality of work.
  • Ensuring all the project documents have been filled correctly and conducting the daily toolbox talks with the team.
  • Preparing reports - daily reports on site progress, site commissioning and completion report. 
  • Photovoltaic plants installation, testing, configurations and commissioning works.
  • Overseeing the implementation of site solar plants' planned maintenance according to the Service Level Agreement set by the customer.
  • Carrying out Front End Engineering Design –Desktop survey, Site survey and data collection, filling of the electrical checklist, logged data analysis, plant sizing, drawing, costing and compiling the proposal.

Projects undertaken

  • Supervised project 330KWp at Elys Chemicals, 47kWp at Exotic EPZ, 4 projects of 10kWp for Total Energies Service Stations.
  • Successfully championing, coordinating and completing the first solar planned maintenance for the 107 sites for Total Energies Service Stations and provided the performance analysis report of the solar plant before and after the maintenance.
  • Total Service Stations Solarization Front End Engineering Design for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting site audits to collect structural, electrical, and related site information for use in the design of residential or commercial solar power systems.
  • Performing computer simulation of solar PV generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency.
  • Developing design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial and industrial solar energy systems.
  • Designing photovoltaic (PV), including system components and creating solar panel model drawings, electrical single-line diagrams and connection diagrams for solar electric systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Preparing the bill of materials for the Photovoltaic systems and developing standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work.

  • Solar audit for schools in Marsabit county covering 20 schools in Saku, 22 schools in North Horr and 20 schools in Moyale.
  • Installing 5KW Safaricom BTS site at Kula Mawe in Isiolo serving the community as well by providing free phone charging.
  • 67.60 kWp Rea Illuat, 69.44 kWp Rea Lowarengak, 103 KWP Absa bank head office.
