

About Edward Mwalozi:
Edward Mwamuye is the Marine programs Manager at the Community Based Environmental Conservation (COBEC) where he offers strategic guidance in designing, fundraising and implementation of community-based project along the Kenyan Coastal area – Livelihoods, Community Development and Marine thematic areas. He has a master degree in Tropical Forestry (Commonwealth Scholar) from Bangor University – UK. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies (Community Development). Edward has a wealth of experience in project management, community engagement, partnership and stakeholder engagement with a proven track record of successfully implementation of community projects. He has over 15 years’ experience in engaging local communities’ participation in projects implementation especially in livelihood, development of climate change mitigation projects, nature based solutions, carbon credit and environmental conservation. Edward has experience in designing and implementing mangrove forest restoration, marine biodiversity, environmental education and awareness, alternative livelihoods and climate change mitigation and adaptation projects. Throughout his career, Edward has designed and managed a variety of projects at community level. Edward has extensive experience Budgeting, Grants management, administration, staff supervision and building partnerships and collaborations. |
Experience
Worked as Community Extension Officer with Nature Kenya after finishing my internship as a Research Assistant at Arabuko Sokoke Forest with Birdlife International. Worked as a Programme Manager the now Local Ocean Conservation (LOC) where I worked with local communities/fishermen to empower then and build their Capacity for effecttive participation natural resource management. Joined COBEC as a Project Manager and later a Programmes manager where I designed and managed projects that were funded by different organizations including IUCN, Danida and EU. I later joined the East African Wildlife Society as the Marine Programmes Manager where I was incharge of programmes covering fisheries, mangroves, community livelihoods, stakeholder engagements and community engagements through BMUs and CFAs. I later worked as a Sustainability Manager for six Months in Qatar for Zulal Wellness Resource where I designed the sustainability management plan for the organization that included development of an environmental plan/policy, waste management plan, CSR policy and staff and customers education activities. I designed all SOPs for the department. I returned to COBEC where I am the Programmes Manager managing different donor funded projects dealing with nature based enterprises/solution, alternative livelihoods, restoration, capacity building and building partnerships with state and non-state actors.
