Duties and responsibilities
- Designing, developing and implementing community sensitization sessions in the community to include household visits, focus group discussions (FGDs), and mass hygiene promotion campaigns.
- Monitoring FRC (Free Residual Chlorine) levels at tap stands and households.
- Weekly monitoring of flow rates at tap stands and advising on water spillage.
- Daily monitoring of performance of the chlorine dozers.
- Conducting follow up cases for the water found to be positive with Feacal coliform (FC) by liaising with the hygiene team to take hygiene messages to the affected families / households.
- Carrying out weekly assessment of FRC of each reticulating line tap stands and house hold levels aimed at maintaining UNHCR standard of 0.5 mg /l at every tap stand and 0.2 mg/l at house hold levels.
- Collecting samples for bacteriological analysis on monthly basis and analyzing of the samples collected from high prone areas of cholera outbreaks.
- Investigating any water quality related issues raised by daily information provided.
- Carrying out monthly household surveys to determine per capita use of water in the refugee camp.
- Responsible for maintaining sample points and monitoring water quality equipment’s
- Maintaining of water quality equipment’s, servicing and calibrating them on regular basis.
- Overseeing effective water treatment including checking on the quality of drinking water parameters eg physical, chemical and bacteriological properties.
- Participating in beneficiary identification and selection for hygiene related nonfood items and in accordance with the NRC’s set criteria on beneficiary selection and identification.
- Taking lead in distribution of hygiene NFIs and take account of the vulnerabilities of the various groups identified in relation to exposure of public health risks.
- Overseeing effective solid waste management at the camp level by supervising drainage team and vector and oversee effective vector control by conducting indoor residual spraying.
- Developing a contingency response plan for any unforeseen emergencies and epidemic break outs and any unpredictable change of weather.
- Acting as a link between WASH and health partners in collecting morbidity related data on WASH related diseases to guide in response.
- Representing NRC in co-ordination meetings with the other IPs, section and block leaders and other stakeholders.

- Conducting assessments and routine monitoring of water distribution and supply in the refugee camp.
- Conducting assessments at tap stand level to reduce Water supply – related risks in the camp.
- Collecting data from Community Mobilizes and prepared regular reports on activities and water supply conditions for monitoring in the camp.
- Coordinating with the beneficiaries to ensure that the various aspects of the WASH response are integrated in the camp.
- Conducting assessments and promoting safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services.

- Monitoring of the water at both household and tap stand level to ensure that they are within the set standards of WHO for water portable for human consumption.
- Liaising with the community leaders to coordinate sufficient water supply and distribution in the camp.
- Collecting data and preparing regular reports on water supply and distribution in the new site of the camp.
- Analyzing and ensuring that the water supplied to the beneficiaries are safe and portable for human consumption and are within the WHO/UNHCR set standards.
