About Denis Gikunju:

I hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management with five years’ experience in the industry. I have previously worked as a clerk of works, and a quantity surveyor. In that regard I have acquired a wide range of skills such as, site management, work scheduling using microsoft project, Architectural and structural drawings using ArchiCAD, measurement of works from drawings and on site, preparation of bills of quantities, filling bills of quantities during tendering, report writing and so much more.

measurements for ongoing projects for purposes of making
variations and payment certificates.
➢ Managing a team of clerks of works in various sites and
making sure they send me the necessary weekly reports for
compiling.

Duties and responsibilities:
Supervision of works to ensure they are top quality as per
the specifications and to the satisfaction of the site
inspector.
Assisting the lead foreman in interpreting drawings.
Making shop drawings for works varying from the
drawings provided.
Ensuring strict adherence to the health and safety
regulations as per the relevant regulations.
Filling the necessary forms and submitting them to the site
inspector for verification.
Attending the site meetings and recording the
deliberations made and making sure they are implemented
on site.
Making prior inspections of works before inspection and
approval of the site inspector.
Periodic referral to the bills of quantities to ensure the
quantities in the BOQ confer to the measurements on the
ground and to those on the drawings.
Making sure that the project is on schedule through close
monitoring and execution of the work program and
revising it while necessary.
Making daily, weekly and biweekly reports and sending
them to the relevant supervisory staff and the contractor.



 

Education

Bachelor of construction management (Second class upper division)-The Technical University of Kenya.
