Deborah Nzilani Musau

I am a communication specialist with a shifted trajectory toward the development sector, and my dedication to fostering positive change has grown in me a passion for creating impactful resilient digital communities. My expertise spans multiple areas such as promoting peace and security, economy, human rights, governance, advocacy, climate security, health and risk communication, and inclusive digital development in complex environments in the Horn of Africa. 

My 5 years of expertise have flourished through hands-on experience in various organizations cutting across NGOs, CSOs, and the Public Sector where I have played pivotal roles in program execution. I have strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data to measure campaign performance, driving continuous improvement and consistently meeting deadlines while adhering to established protocols. My unwavering commitment is fueled by a passion for facilitating organizational alignment with strategic objectives and driving profitability. On the sidelines, I am a topical writer

Her former employer at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development reinstated her in her former office as a front office receptionist at the Nacece Resource Centre, as of September 16th. She is now under casual employment at KICD. Her duties entail:

• Guest relations, managing hostel bookings, enquiry handling (Telephone, Walk in, Email and letters),  
• Drafting advertising messages and sharing with media channels / social media upon approval by management
• Handling letters, cheque, receipts and other forms of official communication.
• Ensuring adequate customer care and satisfaction by effective communication, and feedback on issues raised.
• Develop effective marketing and sales campaigns management.
• Help create customer research databases.
• Analyze research to target the best audience and maximize reach.
• Identify, study, and test market patterns and trends.
• Research competitors.
• Serves as an order entry specialist in the Nacece Resource Center where I process customer orders, including data entry, inventory checks, pricing, shipping coordination, and order tracking. Providing excellent customer service by phone and email, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.

Deborah was part of the East African Community Political Federation when it took place in Kenya from May 2024-June 2024. As part of the Corporate Communications team;

• She helped manage the Community’s external communications, 
• Ensuring a cohesive and strategic dissemination of information to the public and stakeholders.
• She played a vital role in enhancing the EAC's visibility, engaging with the media, 
• And promoting transparency and accountability across the organization.

Deborah has currently graduated at The University of Nairobi main campus class of 2024, on the 71st graduation ceremony Friday,20th September 2024. She studied B.A in Journalism and Media Studies majoring in Development Communications, and excelled with Second Class Honors (Upper Division)

Specialized in Development Communication in third year.

•Worked as an assistant writer and editor for two issues of the University's 'Comrade Magazine' 

•Volunteered at the University's TV and Radio studio 

•Produced and took on the role of anchor and editor in a documentary project for my fourth year project.

 •An active member in the planning committee of the inaugural University of Nairobi Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Final Year Students' Film Festival.
