DUTIES( General rotation)
Carrying out Diagnostic and specialized Laboratory investigations for In and Out patients received
in the Laboratory including;
Calcium, Phosphorus, Uric acid, Thyroid function tests, Prostate Specific Antigens
Antinuclear factor, Rheumatoid factor
Routine analysis and culture for Urine, Stool and Swabs specimen
Fully automated and Semi-automated Elisa Technique for HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C virus,
Toxoplasma, H. pylori, B-hcG, CEA, CA 19-9, CA 15-3, and CA 125
Carrying out Specialized Molecular Laboratory assays in HIV DNA PCR for infant diagnosis
Collection, preparation and storage of Dried Blood Spots (DBS)
Carrying out Molecular assays in HIV RNA PCR for viral load quantification
Carrying out Specialized Laboratory tests for research activities undertaken in the Laboratory
Participating in the facilitation of MBChB student Laboratory rotation sessions
Other Standard Laboratory Procedures including; Specimen collection, separation and storage,
Culture Media preparation, Formulation and revision of Laboratory SOPs, Maintenance of
Laboratory records, Maintenance of Laboratory equipment, Sterilization procedures and Laboratory waste management.

Maintenance of Laboratory Records as well as preparation of Monthly Laboratory Reports for the Program.
Carrying out Molecular assays in HIV RNA PCR for viral load quantification for research programs
undertaken in the Laboratory
Participating in the facilitation of MBChB student Laboratory rotation sessions
