  • I gained expertise in managing animals and gained knowledge of animal welfare ranging from animal nutrition, protection against pest and diseases, housing and breeding.
  • Developed a thorough understanding of pasture management, including soil preparation, planting, and the application of adequate fertilizer, as well as harvesting and storage. .

  • Successfully participated in the practice of rearing chickens by ensuring the management of the litter, water, feed, and shelter for the birds. The health of the birds was ensured by these techniques, which raised productivity.

  • I developed a skill set in land preparation because it is crucial to the growth of crops. I also gained knowledge about how to operate farm equipment including the shredder, plough, harrow, reaper, ridger, bed former, and rotavator. It also included the use of gypsum, which enhances root development, reduces the toxicity of aluminum in the soil, adds calcium to the soil, and lastly, improves the subsoil condition.
  • Took part in the planting of horticultural crops such as tender stem broccoli, butternuts, French beans, sweet corn, chilies, and capsicums, as well as tomatoes, sweet melons, bulb onions (red and white), courgettes, and climbing beans. I was able to understand the significance of planting depth, spacing, and plant population from this. 
  • Helped with irrigation tasks using drip and overhead systems. This increased my understanding of fertigation, which is crucial for crop nutrition. The procedure of applying fertilizer through irrigation necessitates a dependable program, and being a part of the planning team allowed me to hone my planning abilities. 
  • Through my involvement in greenhouse activities, I developed knowledge of greenhouse administration and upkeep, including maintaining temperature and humidity, supporting crops, structuring, and even drainage. .
  • I encountered a variety of pests that harm crops while scouting and learned the various techniques for identifying them. This also gave me knowledge of the various biological techniques for controlling them. I also participated in the soil amendment process.
  • Participated in the crop protection/spraying department and gained knowledge of the many ways for pest and disease control. I also discovered the value of applying some chemicals in a measured amount to help prevent and control these issues. 
  • The horticultural products' harvesting gave me some knowledge of the benefits of correct harvesting methods and guidelines for extending shelf life. 
  • My expertise and abilities in cold-room storage, pack house hygiene, stock control, traceability, packaging, and dispatching were all enhanced by the pack house department. 
  • Management through coordination, cooperation, planning, organizing and leading.
