Damian Kipkurui

My name is Damian Kipkurui.I am 26years old. I was born in Elgeyo Marakwet County and I speak fluent English, Kiswahili and Kalenjin. I have 4 years practicing in the medical field as a laboratory technician.

With my strong background in medical laboratory science and a passion for providing accurate and reliable test results, I am confident in my ability to contribute to the success of your esteemed laboratory.

I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. Throughout my academic journey, I acquired comprehensive knowledge in various laboratory techniques, including specimen collection and processing, microscopic analysis, biochemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology. I am proficient in handling advanced laboratory equipment, conducting quality control procedures, and adhering to strict safety protocols.

During my clinical rotations at renowned medical facilities, including Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Moi University, college of Health Sciences, Grandcare Medical Clinic LTD and Crystal Cottage Hospital and Medical Clinic LTD, I gained hands-on experience in conducting laboratory tests, analyzing samples, and interpreting results. I am well-versed in performing routine diagnostic procedures such as blood counts, urinalysis, coagulation studies, and culture identification.

Apart from technical skills, I possess strong organizational and multitasking abilities. I am accustomed to managing a high volume of samples while ensuring accuracy and efficiency. I pay meticulous attention to detail and have a keen eye for spotting irregularities or inconsistencies in test results. Moreover, I am skilled in maintaining proper documentation and records to meet regulatory requirements.

Working as part of a collaborative team is a strength of mine. I have excellent communication skills, which allow me to effectively interact with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. I am adept at explaining complex laboratory procedures to patients and comforting them during sample collection processes. I am also experienced in training and supervising laboratory assistants and ensuring their adherence to established protocol. I am confident that my dedication, technical proficiency, and passion for delivering accurate results align perfectly with the requirements of a laboratory technologist. 
 

Medical Laboratory Attachment: (2018 June – September) Moi Teaching and  Referral Hospital, Eldoret, Laboratory Department. (Conducted routine laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of senior technologists
Prepared and analyzed patient specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples
Maintained laboratory equipment and supplies, and assisted in inventory management
Communicated test results and findings to healthcare providers and assisted in data entry into LIS and EHR systems
Participated in quality assurance and control activities, and followed laboratory safety protocols)

Medical laboratory Intern: (February 2021- March 2021)Moi University, College Of Health Sciences, Eldoret, Microbiology department.( worked as an assistant in the Moi University ,College Of Health Sciences. I helped the lecturer teach the medical students practical aspects of their field of study.

GrandCare Medical Clinic: (May 2021- September 2022) worked as a lab Technician where I carry out laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, and parasitology.

Crystal Cottage Hospital and Medical Clinic: (October 2022- Present). Working as a laboratory technician where I carry out laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, parasitology.

Bachelor’s degree: (2015-2019) Masinde Muliro Unoversity of Science and Technology: Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Technology.
