About Cynthia Mabel:

I am a motivated self driven marine biologist who will go miles to ensure that the marine ecosystem has a symbiotic relationship with humans.

Experience

I did my first attachment in May  2016 to July 2016, at Lake basin development authority. I was doing fish hatchery management from taking care of water parameters, feeding the brood stock, the fry's, grading the fry's before they are sold to fish farmers. And training the fish farmers on fish management. I the went to Shimoni Fisheries Kwale County for my second attachment on June 2017 to August 2017, where I dealt with fishermen at the south coast of Kenya, in terms of ensuring they are; licensed, using the appropriate fishing equipment, catching the requried size of fish, taking every fish caut to various landing sites and ensuring that the measurements of weight and length and type of fish are recorded. I also dealt with sea  weed farmers, where I trained them on planting the sea weeds, havesting, and helped donate the sea weed farming equipment that was given by the Government of Kenya. I went to Miyare Agricultural training center on march 2021 to August 2021, where I was writing a project proposal on establishing a fish hatchery, and training local fish farmers and help them on grant application to help them in their business. I also did some culinary activities as it has been my hobby, this was during seminars that were conducted by various Non governmental organizations. I went to Victory farms Homa Bay county in October 2021 to June 2022. I worked on fish breeding from egg stage, hatching stage, nursing fry's  until they reach  table size, then harvested the full grown fish, processed it, for sale in various fish depot's.

Education

I am a graduate in Bachelors in Maine Biology and fisheries with a second lower division. I graduated on 20th December 2018, from Pwani University. During my studies,I worked on ‘ Comparative analysis of fish species diversity and abundance of ornament fishes in Shimoni South coast, and Mnarani North coast of Kenya.' During my studies, I found out that the Shimoni South coast of Kenya was more diverse in fish species and the fishes were abundant compared to Mnarani North coast of Kenya. This was made possible by the conservation measures put in Place in Shimoni South coast of Kenya, by various Non governmental organizations and the Kenya wildlife service of Kisite Mpunguti National Marine Park and reserve.
