Ms. Cheruiyot is a development professional with more than 9 years of program leadership and management in the development sector. Experience

April 2013 to March 2021: Programme Officer, Echo Network Africa Echo Network Africa (ENA) formerly Kenya Women Holding (KWH) is a woman led, women serving development institution that empowers, positions and advocates for women with specific focus on young women, women with disabilities and women from marginalized communities. It draws its roots from Kenya Women Microfinance bank (KWFT) that serves a very unique segment of the market solely focusing on women entrepreneurs with 80% of KWFT’s customers residing in the rural areas. Currently serving over 800,000 clients across its vast branch network of 245 offices spread out across 45 out of the 47 counties in Kenya with efforts to reduce inequalities and enhancing financial inclusion by ensuring that its operativamente and wide to provide equal opportunities to all women and their families around the country. Summary of the position: A position reporting to the management and board of directors. Responsible for spearheading programmatic activities of Echo Network Africa. Support management in the strategic planning and annual budget reviews. Overseeing the staff development, performance evaluation and appraisals. Resource mobilization for the project for sustainability, scale up and replication. Leading the Women Empowerment Focus area and implementation of the Aquaculture Anchor Cluster model project with a total grant of $450,000 funded by Open Society Foundation under the Economic Justice Program to enhance sustainable livelihoods through aggregation of small scale cage farmers from subsistence to commercial fish farming. The project aimed at strengthening women's voices and reducing Human Rights violation and other related abuses among the fisher folk’s communities in Homa Bay County. Supported the implementation of the Girls Excel Initiative in Homa bay County to enhance leadership, skills, advocacy on Sexual reproductive health rights, grow the capacities and education enthusiasm among girls and young women in learning institutions and communities through education and mentorship approaches i.e. addressing teenage pregnancies, school reintegration of girls back to school, supporting teenage mother and guardian to start up sustainable livelihoods through the revolving loan fund. Spearheaded AMREF project BE4WE: Be- proactive for Women BE proactive actors for Women Empowerment and Gender Equality in Kenya, works towards enabling and enhancing CSOs to engage as efficient and proactive actors of governance and development affecting on women and girls in Marsabit and Samburu Counties. This aims at ensuring potential in women and girls is unearthed and ideas fully engaged to assure communities, institutions that available resources are used, and authority exercised according to appropriate procedures, professional standards, and societal values. The initiative is funded by European Commission – EU Delegation in Kenya and will benefit 32,500 women of reproductive age, 25,250 men, 26,700 girls in and out of school, 16,750 boys in and out of school, 7,500 pupils and students, 202,500 community members directly, and 200,000 community members indirectly. Also, spearheaded the Financial Literacy and technical capacity building program for Gatundu Fish-Farmers’ Cooperative with a total grant of $ 70,000 funded by Global Alliance of Improved Nutrition (GAIN). AMREF, Kenya, Assignment Training Consultant for caregivers on Financial Management Training in Dagoretti, Nairobi County: Developed customized and Delivered Entrepreneurship curriculum based on needs assessments Conducted Capacity Building training on Business finance management and budgeting to Dagoretti South area caregivers to enhance their livelihoods. Supported the Monitoring and evaluation of the training impact. Africa Educational Trust Assignment On Financial Literacy Training For Livestock Communities In Doldol, Laikipia County; Build Capacity of Africa Educational Trust (AET) project beneficiaries on the process of identifying sustainable Income Generating Activities(SIGA): Development of proposals and business plans, monitoring progress and capitalization of profits. The training focused on basic financial literacy training, entrepreneurship and group formation training. Beneficiaries acquire knowledge on market factors to be considered to ensure they arrive at a profit. Development of a monitoring tool that highlights key milestones of progress, challenges and achievements. Assignment Title: Development of Financial literacy & Entrepreneurship Manual and training of resources persons as TOT in Doldol, Laikipia County; Developed a customized Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship Manual to the Somalia Context. The Assignment will include development of Group Formation and Management Processes Handbook as well as Business Marketing Steps. As part of the assignment, BORT examined the legal requirements of registering groups or companies and tax implications. Activities done are development of contextualization/ Customization of the Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship Manual – include registration requirements: Development of Group Formation& Management Handbook and development Business Marketing steps – product pricing, target market, product distribution etc.
